Fire from the Rock is a fabulous look at one black girl's journey toward the integration of Little Rock schools in 1957. Although the character and her family are fictional, the setting, events, and some supporting characters are real. Both a heart-warming and heart-wrenching read, as well as a superb supplement to a US history unit.
